CONGLETON go into this afternoon's derby at Alsager with their confidence boosted by a 2-1 home win against Padiham. Manager Jim Vince did not pretend it was pretty, but goals by Michael Koral (seven) and a penalty by Joe Guest (58) gave Congleton the spoils after the visitors had levelled shortly after half-time. HAPPY MAN: Congleton Town boss Jim Vince was pleased with the result against a big Padiham outfit. Vince said: "It was not particularly good. Padiham are big and strong and came with a game plan and we got dragged into a battle. "We should have had more than a goal lead at half-time and then we gave them a penalty for handball following a corner. "But not long afterwards Danny Docherty went down in the box and Guest put us back in front. "We were on top for the last 20 minutes and showed a lot of endeavour. The lads worked hard without playing well."
