Opening question has to be: why did the game K.O. at 2.54pm?? That caught out quite a few people in the bar and late-comers, who weren't even late missed the first few minutes of the game. Fortunately there wasn't much to write about in the first 15.
In the end it was a gutsy display by the lads, in a game that they largely dominated throughout the 90 minutes. Chances went begging though, and some smart saves kept the game scoreless. A penalty was awarded when Adam Vickers was tripped in the box midway through the second half, but their 'keeper (who was their MOTM by the way) made another great save to push away Marrow's effort.
The complexion of the game changed though when one of their centre-backs was dismissed with a quarter-hour remaining. That opened up abit of additional space for Baker and Tulloch to exploit,
although there was almost disaster when we fell prey to a quick break and a combination of Verow, Hackney and Brotherton kept out three goal-bound shot's and an eventual clearing of the ball off the line.
There was great delight then when Stuart Tulloch opened the scoring with just two minutes remaining. He slid in when Ryan Baker put in a low angled cross and although there was a suspicion of an own goal by one of the two defenders that went in with him, Stuart has claimed the goal.
There was no doubt about his, and the teams, second in the last minute, and special mention to substitute Ryan Green who played his part in a great one-two with Tulloch before the league's current top goal-scorer blasted the ball high into the net to put the game beyond doubt.
It was nice to hear one or two Ramsbottom officials/supporters say that the better team won. I think most Bears' supporters would have been disappointed with a draw on the balance of play. Their team were very well organised and their 'keeper was magnificent, but losing a player cost them dearly.
