On Monday, the final curtain fell on the youth team, when players, past & present, gathered at Booth street ground, the day started with a thank you speech from captain James Dodd, with presentations to Graham & Dean, before a memorial game was played, the current youth team v a selection of players from past youth team squads, with the likes of Lewis Short, Tom Horsefield, Danny Quin, Sam Cook & captain fantastic Max Williamson, to name but a few stars from the past. The game was preceded, with a minutes clapping by everyone in the stadium.
Those who witnessed it, were treated to a very entertaining, competitive, but friendly game of football with 'a bit of show boating' at times. Dean managed to get on for the last 10 minutes, & made his mark, seeing his free kick from 20 yards, hit the bar & drop to Joe Kiely, to nod home from 2 yards. The final score was 7-3 to the old boys, the result was, a fantastic day & more great memories in the bank. The day ended with drinks & reminiscing at the Unicorn.
Special thanks to Dave Sibson (acting manager) Andy Byrne (referee), & everyone from the past five years. Graham.
