 Could anyone help me find some info or photo or match comments about my Grandfather Wilfred Horton who was signed up by the club in the 20's and was staying in digs somwhere in Congleton . Not sure about length of time he played but a scout from Wolverhampton club was coming to see him and he was badly injured and ended up with a broken leg which ended his career. never played football again. Trying to find info about him for my 82 year ols mum. Hope someone else out there can help. Jude

I have done some digging ans a player called Horton played 16 games for Congleton in the 1921/22 season.
He played up front - probably as a winger. There is no record of him scoring but his first game appears to have been in early October 1921 v Saltney away - Congleton won 3-2. His final game was on 28 Jan 1922 in a 5-2 home win against the same opposition. All the games were played in the Cheshire League.
